Daryl Hoole
Daryl Van Dam Hoole was born in 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eldest of four children of Donovan and Ada Strong Van Dam. Growing up, she attended 18 different schools in various parts of the nation due to her father’s military service during World War II. She also resided in the Netherlands for almost five years serving as a missionary and traveling extensively throughout Europe while her parents served as mission leaders.
She married Hendricus J. M. Hoole, and they were blessed with nine children. She is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served three missions and held teaching and leadership positions on the ward, stake, and general levels.
Daryl has been well known for her book, The Art of Home- making, and writing and speaking on home management and family living. She was a lecturer at BYU Education
Week for forty years, except for two of the missions. She was awarded an honorary alumna designation by Brigham Young University in 2012.
Widowed in 2013, Daryl resides in their family home in Salt Lake City where she enjoys a large and growing posterity.
